Mad Hatter Tutorial

For those of you who wanted to know how to make the Mad Hatter hats in the below post, I got a message from the darling grandma tonight. She said she found the instructions on a site called Threadbangers. The video lasts only a few minutes and they make it look really easy, although the skill level is marked "intermediate."

Here's the link, for not only the hats, but a whole Mad Hatter outfit!

  5. ekaneal: I'm practicing getting up early for school next week! By the way, yours says 7:46. Yes, I think a Mad Hatter party would be a great idea for your 40th! It might take me that long to get my hat made.

  6. I envision all your crafty people scouring the house for those bits and pieces we all save and don't know why...ribbons, lace, doodads, geegaws, kaborkies, feathers, rick rack... Somewhere I have a jar of Mardi Gras beads that could be used.

  7. Auntie M: Now that's a phrase that tickled my word-loving tongue:"...doodads, geegaws, kaborkies..." Now you've sent me off to look up kaborky. Mardi Gras beads would be perfect. (Have you ever heard them called "Mardi Grubbies?")

  9. Randi, I'll be surprised if you find the word kaborkie. I think your Uncle Daryl coined it. Hand me that kaborkie. Where's the little kaborkie that you use for...?

  10. Auntie M: No wonder all web searches led me to kabuki theater. I love made up words. In honor of Uncle Daryl I shall have to incorporate it into my repertoire of fun words.

You won't be paid for it, but at least you'll know that you have contributed intelligence to the universe...
