The Things Kids Say

Yeah. Even my adult kids.

Daughter Em was driving home last night and remarked that someone just waved at her, but she didn't know who it was. I replied that I hate when that happens to me. People are always waving at me and I spend the next hour trying to figure out who the bleep it was. What if it was someone who was trying to track me down because of unclaimed cash somewhere?

Dear daughter replied that it wouldn't be uncommon for unknown people to wave at me because I have a car just like the owner of the local telephone company.

"I wave at him all the time because I think he's you, Mom. But I know him anyway, so I never feel like I wove in vain."

Like I wove in vain?

May we all wave in earnest, and never feel like we have woven in vain.

  1. When I'm up at the bus stop (which seems to be all day), I wave at everyone coming down the road. I know some people, and others just look at me like, "Who's that wacky woman?" It would be a nicer world if everyone greeted each other throughout their day.

  2. All that time spent reading to your kids when they were wee; you could have 'sove' yourself the time and effort. ;)

In my house, it's the things mum says that make my family laugh. English isn't my first language and many a mongrel phrase and silly bit of syntax spill out after I've been on the phone to my dad or to folk in Greece!

  3. Wow, okay so I have woven in vain at that EXACT SAME GUY. I had no idea it was the telephone guy, but I always wondered why you parked across the street from the school some days lol. Another mystery of the universe solved.

  4. Hi Randi
So funny! I hope I recorded some of the things our kids said because we do forget, don't we?

Bev said to me yesterday..."You'll be digging your own coffin, mate!' I replied "I'd rather build my own grave".
She replied, 'It won't be long if you keep on opening your mouth!'

  6. septembermom: I agree! I live in a small town and when people pass each other on the street everyone says "hi" whether they know each other or not.

Janice: Sove! I love it! I may have to steal that phrase and use it.

juliegoose: Yup, it's the telephone guy who's parking across the street. He has a silver gas cap and I have a purple.

Ken: You had me laughing so hard with this one! I would say your quick wit must drive your wife crazy, but it looks like her wit is as quick as yours!

Jill: Glad to hear it! :)

You won't be paid for it, but at least you'll know that you have contributed intelligence to the universe...
