How to Tell When Spring has Sprung...

The socks start blooming in the trees!

Really. Why would someone stick a pair of socks in a tree?

Maybe it's more logical than I think. Maybe someone dropped a pair of baby socks out of her diaper bag. Along came a stranger and said, "Look! Baby socks on the sidewalk! What if the owner realizes the socks are missing, and retraces her steps to find the missing socks?

"Maybe I will stick them in a tree so she will be more likely to find them!"

  1. They look kinda pretty there; like a pink blossom. Ever wonder why now and then one sees a sneaker hanging from a utility line? Like someone just flings it up there to see if it will catch. And does he toss the other one, too, further on down the road?

  2. One of my favourite quotes too! I love how blogging, writing and having kids makes us appreciate every little thing we come across!

Had a quick peek at the site - just wanted to say you'd feel very at home in my DVD cupboard! I've lost count of how many times I've seen Top Gun - I annoy my husband by saying all the lines along with the film!

  3. Accidentally cut and pasted out the quote itself in my comment above - it's the one from your header:

"Enjoy the little things, for one day you may
look back and realize they were the big things."
    Robert Brault

  4. I do that! I've put many a-thing in a tree, on a fire hydrant, a fencepost, whatever's stable and handy....hoping the owner would find it.

  5. Auntie M: They did liven up an otherwise stark treescape. I've seen the sneakers hanging from a line. I also saw a tree in Park City that had hundreds of shoes hanging from it, outside my hotel room. I can't believe I never took a picture of it.

Janice: Thanks for dropping by! I'm glad you liked the quote. Robert Brault actually popped by a few days ago. His site is full of amazing quotes. Isn't it funny how we can watch certain movies over and over? My daughter used to have the whole movie 'Selena' memorized and would speak right along the whole time. Also, I really enjoyed your post over at the Blueprint! [If anyone would like to check it out, go to]

Jill: It was you!! :) I forgot to check today to see if they were still there--they were right in front of our school.
