If you are not obsessed in the least either, you can print your own Dharma food labels for tonight's festivities right here. May all your questions be answered...
Yeah I am VERY skeptical Abrams is going to answer all my Lost questions. He is too much of a "tv tease", he really got me PO'd with his version of Star Trek too (had to blow up Vulcan then do the whole "alternate timeline" thing). Couldn't just give us a straight up prequel like we all wanted, had to "outsmart" everybody. I don't like writers like that. Russell T Davies was like that when he wrote for Dr. Who, thank God Steven Moffatt actually delivers on the stories people want.
I also I would really like to punch whats his face (Robert Carlysle) for ruining the latest Stargate incarnation just b/c Matt Smith got the job he wanted.
If I can only hold my breath through the stench of summer TV long enough for Eureka to come back on again, there is a show that really delivers too.
Sean: I will try so hard not to leave any spoilers on this site until you have watched. Only 3 1/2 more hours here...
Adam: My daughter's worst fear is that she will watch tonight and have unanswered questions like "What was up with Walt and his telepathy?" or "What ever happened to Rose?" I'm going into it assuming that not everything will be addressed. Many times Computer Geek and I will sit there and say, "Now what happened to Character X again?"
Eureka is a scifi show about a small town which is not a small town but is the secret HQ of the worlds most brilliant scientists, it also has a really good comedic element to it. So you not only see what is the "cutting edge", but also the trouble they get into. Plus BSGs Dr. Baltar (James Callis) is going to be on this season so that should be good. You can watch it online at:
Oh plus I just have to throw out that Abrams ripped off James Cawley & his hard work:

I am DVR ing Lost but not expecting any "resolution" (I read somewhere today he is doing another extended 20 minute version of the finale when it comes on DVD so it'll be close to 3 hrs long when complete).
Adam: Eureka does sound interesting. We may have to watch it and see how we like it. As far as LOST, I wish they would go ahead and do the extra 20 minutes right in the finale, instead of promising it at a future date just to get sales. Ugh.
Your kids might really like the new Dr. Who's, my friends son who is in 3rd grade really loves the new ones. It is way different than the ones I remember growing up, it is much more Harry Potterish & condensed down in time from the old ones. The last actor who played the Doctor (David Tennant) was in the films, plus a number of people in the films have been in the new tv show.
YEAH!!! LOST!!! Watching LOST and all the prep work for it was really great. We had a lot of fun, well except for Goolie who was bored to tears after the first two hours! But the rest was awesome, after going to bed I dreamed LOST and came to peace with the ending, despite all the questions that were still jumbled in my head. :P Thanks for the invite, we'll have to do it again sometime when we all become obsessed with something awesome!

juliegoose:It was great fun! I had LOST dreams too! I was glad to hear the writers last night say that they did not dumb down their material (unlike most other shows) and that they wrote it with little references that they would like to catch if they were the ones watching.
septembermom: You would have been watching with us if you lived closer! :)
I think Naomi's daughter is right on, I was bored to tears too but had already vested so much time in the show I had to watch it till the end.
And BTW JJ Abrams, in an "everybody dies" finale, everyone DIES, they are not already DEAD but they die. That is the proper resolution to that type of show.
Also if you have a mystery, you have to have a resolution, otherwise you are just a tv tease. People like Abrams & Russell Davies need to take writing lessons from Steven Moffatt (google him) - someone who actually knows how to write a time travel show ;)
Jill: I think you had a pretty good excuse for falling asleep during the finale. :) The nice thing about watching it online later is that you can pause and replay something if you didn't catch what was said. Did you catch the 2 hour show that came on before the finale? That was really good too.
HA!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome.
I won't be able to watch until tomorrow, but I am SO excited!!!
May all your questions be answered as well. :)

Enough ranting.

What is Eureka about? I've never seen it.

Adam: I'll have to check that out. My son probably would like Dr. Who. You've given us lots of good links to try. We'll let you know what we think!

LOVE it! I'm not reading the comments because I fell asleep (GAH!!!!) during the finale and now have to Hulu it.
